Rice harvest is one of the most vital agricultural events in the local farming economy of Pals. Just like the traditional rice planting, the harvesting of rice in Pals is a special ceremony, celebrated every October on the rice fields of the area.
The rice planted by hand in June is harvested manually as well, with the harvesting technique demonstrated by the most senior and experienced rice farmers. Cutting the stalks with a sickle, making rice stacks and loading them onto a horse-drawn wooden cart are all part of the harvesting ceremony. The rice harvest celebration concludes with a traditional rice meal.
