Transport yourself to the Medieval times and experience the sights, the sounds, and the tastes of the Middle Ages at the annual festival Terra de Trobadors taking place in Castelló de Empúries the second week of September.
Terra de Trobadors was first organized in 1991 by the group of troubadours CREMM-TROBAR from Carcassonne with the support of the French region of Languedoc-Roussillon, Generalitat de Catalunya and the municipality of Girona. It is an enthusiastic revival of the Medieval splendor of Catalonia that harks back to the times of glory of the county of Empúries, whose Counts were the patrons and protectors of the troubadours, the performers, and the actors.
Today, Terra de Trobadors is an internationally acclaimed multidisciplinary festival that encompasses events and activities of epic magnitude. Street performances and spectacles, music and dance, decorations and costumes of the Medieval era, arts and crafts, a Medieval market and even a Medieval feast with compulsory costumes all form a part of the celebration.
