Besalú Medieval

Besalú Medieval
August 30 - August 31, Besalú

Besalú is a picturesque small town in Catalonia with one of the oldest running markets that dates back to the year 1027. The Medieval roots of the local trade is an important part of the town’s identity, celebrated every year in September with a popular fair Besalú Medieval.

On the weekend of the fair, Besalú transforms into its version of the past, with Medieval artisans, peasants, actors and jesters, musicians and people of the court walking its streets, performing their arts and showcasing their crafts. The weekend is full of activities suitable for children and adults alike: parades and performances, artisanal markets and craft workshops, archery competitions, jousting, and even sword dancing.

Besalú Medieval is free to attend and spectate. The fair occurs on the first weekend of September or the last weekend of August.
