Most countries tend to “pick mushrooms”, while Catalonia prefers “mushroom hunting”—caçar bolets. The mushroom fair in Llagostera is the best time and place for learning about the offerings of local forests.
Many restaurants in Llagostera also hold a mushroom gastronomic campaign concurrently with the fair and for a little while after, during which guests may taste soups, appetizers and main courses made with locally picked mushrooms.
